KAWARTHA COFFEE CO.
ABOUT KAWARTHA COFFEE CO.
Kawartha Coffee Co. is a kind supporter and honourary member of the Kawartha Lakes Arts Council.
After visiting Mexico City in 2003 and witnessing Mexican Coffee Farmers and workers demonstrating for days in the City’s main square on unfair pricing and unbearable work conditions, owner Kathleen Seymour started to research into the coffee industry. Kathleen felt there was a need in Bobcaygeon for a café that would serve as a home away from home for the residents and visitors to Kawartha Lakes while assisting coffee producers to earn a fair living.
After much research and training she made the leap to open a fair-trade organic coffee house in Bobcaygeon. Kawartha Coffee Co. was established in the summer of 2005 as the 1st specialty coffee house in the area. The business was located in the garage on the Old Schoolhouse property that Kathleen transformed into a local hotspot.
Kawartha Coffee became popular with residents, cottagers and tourists, business expanded over the years from a little café serving a few baked goods and bagels to a fully licenced restaurant and catering company. KCC has been featured in local papers, national magazines and several television spots.
The business became synonymous with great customer service, fantastic food and drinks.
In 2012 the business relocated to Bolton Street. With the new location came new customers and it was time to change things up. 2012 brought a new fresh vision of KCC, now Kawartha Coffee Co + Kitchen. Still the same great coffeehouse with a fabulous fresh Latin/Mexican based food and cocktail menu.
2017 is an exciting year for us not only is it our 12th Anniversary it is also time for some great new additions. We are adding a large grab and go section, so you can take your favorites home from fresh baguette sandwiches, composed salads, sweet and savoury baked goods, to build your own taco kits. Southern BBQ will be making its debut to complement our Mexican Summer menu.
At KCC we put our heart into everything we do from the food made with only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients to the specialty drinks ranging from fair trade coffees to locally made Craft Beer.
