The Kawartha Lakes Singers is an SATB ensemble ranging from 16 years to 70+. It is open to anyone who can meet the challenge. Sight reading skills a MUST! Rhythmic and Harmonic complexity.

When:    Tuesday evenings from 7:15-9:15.
Where:     The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 48 Angeline Street S, Lindsay
What:    Level 3 material and up. Varied repertoire with a focus on choral excellence.

The Kawartha Lakes Singers is directed by Arlene Gray and accompanied by Laurel Robinson-LaChance.

Arlene Gray has a very active musical life. She is founder and director of the Kawartha Lakes Singers. A 30 voice choir, the Kawartha Lakes Singers have had success on many platforms, including the Peterborough Kiwanis Musical Festival in which they received the Charles Allen Trophy for “the most outstanding choir performance” in 2012.  She was also founder and director the Kawartha Treble Troupe (1996 – 2010). A 25 voice youth chorus with many awards and international recognition.
Arlene is also the director of the Bonachord Male Chorus and the Jubilaires Women’s Chorus both of Peterborough. She also is director and accompanist for Jubilation. She also sings with the Peterborough Singers and the Peterborough Pop Ensemble.
Arlene has an active vocal studio and taught private voice at Lakefield College School for 9 years. She has a B.A. degree in music from Calvin College, MI and an ARCT in vocal performance.  Arlene served as organist and music director for 9 years at Lakefield United Church, 6 years at St. Paul’s Anglican, Lindsay  and is currently organist and music director for George Street United Church in Peterborough.  
On top of all of this, she is also a piano tuner and technician with 25+ yrs experience. 

Laurel LaChance

For many years, Laurel’s career spanned teaching piano, organ and theoretical subjects on Faculty at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, while she was a member of the Board of Examiners, adjudicated music festivals, and for a time was Administrator of the Toronto Kiwanis Music. As an accompanist, she has toured Canada and Britain with youth choirs.  As a church musician, she has held church posts in Toronto, Cobourg, Brockville and Hawkesbury. Recently, Laurel and her husband retired from a twenty year farming experience raising beef and horses and they now reside in Peterborough where Laurel freelances as a supply organist and accompanist, working with  the Jubilaries and  Bonachords, and the Kawartha Lakes Singers under the direction of Arlene Gray.  In this busy schedule she still finds the time for her wide variety of interests including:  gardening, kayaking, 2 cats, a cockapoo pup, 7 grandchildren, one husband!
