It all started when…

The Kinmount & Area Artisans Guild was formally established on March 31, 1999. Five weeks later the Guild opened its primary project the Kinmount Artisans Marketplace, located in the lower level of the Kinmount Community Centre, in space rented initially from the Township of Somerville and after amalgamation, the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Now in its eighteenth year of operation the Kinmount Artisans Marketplace, a community based, not-for-profit cooperative, offers a variety of local arts and handcrafts including paintings, photography, ceramics, woodcraft, fibre/textile items and stained glass alongside collectables, local authors' books and souvenirs. Special themes and events are incorporated and over this year Canada's Sesquicentennial will be celebrated.

The Marketplace is staffed by Guild members and all tasks associated with its operation carried out on a volunteer basis. Hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday until mid June then daily openings through tourist season until Thanksgiving. A ramp provides accessibility to the Market's front entrance on the lower level of the historic building.
