Bobcaygeon, July 30th, 2019 - Globus Theatre is excited to conclude their 2019 summer season with another World Premiere - the newest comedy by Artistic Director, Sarah Quick.
Bob and Lynda Anderson are happily married. At least they think they are. While the world around them changes apace their 25-year-old marriage remains steadfastly stable. But, when researching exotic recipes for her new ‘cook club’, Lynda inadvertently checks the wrong book out of the library the couple find themselves in an awkward position…or two!
Kama Sutra is an adaptation of the one act play by Peter McGarry and is a story that most couples can relate to on some level –finding yourselves in a comfortable rut, reviving passion, exploring levels of communication… and middle-aged sex . This spice of life comedy premieres on August 14th and runs until August 24th at the Lakeview Arts Barn in Bobcaygeon. Audiences can expect to laugh hysterically throughout the show and even bring some of those giggles back home with them.
Kama Sutra stars Sarah Quick herself as Lynda Anderson and Artistic Producer, James Barrett, as her husband, Bob. Sarah and James were last seen in The Great Kooshog Lake Hollis McCauley Fishing Derby at Globus Theatre this year and have performed together many times over Globus Theatre’s 16 seasons. Audiences will remember laughing at this comedic duo in Sexy Laundry in 2013 as well as Funny Farmers in 2016. Both actors are at pains to point out that, although they are married in real life, the play is NOT autobiographical
"Peter McGarry was my mentor 20 years ago when I wrote my first play. He is a fabulous British playwright that writes beautifully for women and has a great way of portraying human relationships on stage. He taught me that when it comes to playwriting there are no rules – you can take any subject matter and deliver it in any way – talking to yourself, each other or to the audience; if your writing is honest it will be relatable. Kama Sutra uses the wisdom of an ancient guide to sex as the backdrop of a love story set in suburban Ontario...it is a great ‘date night’ play!"
- Sarah Quick, Artistic Director
