Sandi McNeil has always had a love of the outdoors and of nature. She has been making baskets for over 20 years, experimenting with the use of natural materials she gathers from ditches and swamps in the Buckhorn area. Sandi's baskets are distinctive and non-traditional, they range in size from tiny ones that could fit in your hand to large baskets, too big to fit in the trunk.

Sandi's latest focus has been on very large wall weavings constructed from vines and natural materials that are too thick for baskets. In addition to basketry, Sandi also has a love for making wire tree sculptures attached to local granite rocks. Her studio Notably Natural is located on the shores of Buckhorn Lake, not far from Lakehurst.

Sandi currently has work at two galleries: The Station Gallery in Fenelon Falls and Nicol's Cove Studio, Bobcaygeon. She is a participating artist in the Kawartha Lakes Studio Tour this fall. As a recently retired teacher she now has time to teach basket and wire sculpting courses, see her website for details.
