Larry Holden

My name is Larry Holden and I am an intarsia artist.  I live in Bobcaygeon and before that lived in Haliburton.

INTARSIA  is a compilation of different sizes,species and colours of wood that when put together form an object or picture. I compare intarsia to stained glass but with wood.

I use, primarily, exotic wood types in my work. Species such as wenge, yellowheart, bloodwood, nogal, purpleheart and many others. I do not use any stains in my work; all the colours are the natural colours of the wood itself. Each product is hand sanded many times and coated with three layers of polyurethane.

I work from a pattern but have been known to alter patterns in order to make a customized piece,, for example, for a pet. I hope you enjoy intarsia.
