Rebecca Anne Bloom Photography

Rebecca is a self-taught painter, photographer, and designer.  She also acts, writes, and is a podcast host.

Rebecca is inspired by nature in all its forms especially when she goes on walks with her fiancée and their dogs. One photo she is particularly proud of is of her fiancée lying down by some forget me nots which brought out the blue in his eyes.  When she is photographing people, she will ask them to choose a place where they feel most comfortable or she will recommend other locations locally that she likes to use.

When painting, Rebecca tends to use acrylics but has also been experimenting with oils and mixed mediums.  Her style is what she describes as vintage modern.  She loves using lots of bolder colours.  Rebecca also designs scrunchies and water colour bookmarks

Rebecca worked for a marketing company and she has always focused on social media.  She currently is The Event and Venue Liaison/Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator at the Lakeview Arts Barn.   In addition she is currently doing social media for Globus Theatre-designing their promotional materials such as programs and posters.  She created the playbill for a recent show for Lindsay Little Theatre and also did all the photography for it. She also does branding for a variety of small businesses.

Rebecca appreciates how KLACs newsletter and social media promotes local artists.  She feels that the art culture in Kawartha Lakes is massively vibrant and she wants to see it keep thriving.  It’s been particularly challenging during COVID because artists haven’t been able to get out to promote their work.  She would love to see opportunities available for artists to meet up and share their work when people can safely gather again.  As a newer artist, Rebecca would appreciate being able to talk to more experienced artists and get pointers on how to widen her client base.  She would like to participate in workshops dealing with the financial and tax side of running a small business.

You can see Rebecca’s work on Instagram at rabloomphotography or her website, www.rabloomcreations.com.

Sharon Walker Photography

Sharon loves exploring nature and always has her camera with her.  Macro photography interests her- this is where she looks at the world as it would be through the eyes of fairies. She is not afraid to lie down on the earth to get the perfect view.  Moss is something she loves photographing up close. She also enjoys photographing artisans with a particular emphasis on their hands.  Sharon feels that a person’s hands tell a lot about them.  She is looking for deep connections when she is photographing –whether it is artisans and their work, humans and their pets, connections between people, or people and the land.

Sharon first began exploring black and white photography in the darkroom at FFSS.  She studied film production in Thunder Bay and managed the college still photography darkrooms-she still enjoys developing prints from film.

Sharon’s hero is documentary photographer and photojournalist Dorothea Lange.  She appreciates how her photos always create a connection with the subject.  Her favourite modern photographer is Jennifer Moher from Peterborough.  Her black and white photos reflect her love of life and her goal is to document the essence of the human soul.

Sharon was the creative director at Maryboro lodge-The Fenelon Museum.  She used her photography to share the work of the Museum with the broader community.  She is hoping to also utilize her photography to support the work of the Kawartha Lakes Food Source where she is the administration and project support coordinator.

Sharon appreciates how KLAC makes local artists feel valued by showcasing their work and celebrating the important contributions they make to the community.  The creations of local artists like Sharon Walker can be accessed through KLAC social media, marketplace, and newsletter.
